Over the weekend, on Saturday, September 30th to be more excact,
the middle and high school bands went to Webb City,MO to do their first competition of the school year. The middle school
marched in the parade and played the old Batman theme song, NOT the one from the new movies, I don't think. RSMS
got 3rd place out of a lot of bands. I saw at least 10 bands, one was so big that it even had FOUR QUADS!!! Quads
are the sets of drums with 4 drums on it, get it four drums quads? And being a percussionist as I am I really don't have a
good perspective on how well we did because we play loud.
After the marching competition, we went to the Webb City High School
to watch the RSHS band play a field show. Before that we ate lunch and smashed a car! Yes, you pay money to use a sludge hammer
and smash a car! One of my friends gotthe dashboard, another got the license plate, and another even got the antennae off
the car! Then we went to the football field to watch the field shows. Our band got 2nd place and "Outstanding Percussion"
and two other "Outstanding"s.
After that we went to the corn maze. When we got there, it already
was kind of dark. It was a haunted corn maze with Jason, Scream, an evil clown and others. I started out with a group of all
girls, and they were the kind of people that would NEVER go in a haunted house. They got scared and fell douwn running away
from Jason and then he helped one of us find our glasses. They didn't want to stay so we asked for help on how to get out.
Then we met up with another group that I joined because I wanted to stay in for the second half. We went on and one of us
made fun of people, I asked the clown if he would be my friend, he wouldn't, and we had fun. When we got out, we made s'mores
and walked around.
